The Porsche Carrera RSR Turbo was the first Porsche race car to ever run a turbocharged engine. That engine, a 2.1-liter flat-six produced a massive 500 hp with the aid of forced induction. In 1974 it placed second overall at Le Mans and cemented the benefits of turbocharging in the minds of those at the Porsche helm. Only one year later in 1975 the first turbocharged production Porsche, the 930, was released.
